Urgent Funding Required for Myanmar Recovery Efforts

The devastating 7.7 magnitude earthquake that struck Sagaing, Myanmar, has left thousands of lives lost and thousands more injured. Multiple rescue efforts by local and international agencies are now in full throttle for the uphill tasks of search and rescue and distribution of humanitarian aid. The current state of civil conflict in Myanmar has complicated the accessibility of foreign aid with reports of gunfire on aid convoys and aid workers, delaying aid convoys with road blockades and long checkpoints. Only a select few international and local rescue agencies are able to gain access to the Sagaing and Mandalay regions, which are considered strongholds of pro-democracy resistance groups.
With the US cutting its foreign aid programs, there is a big gap left in global foreign aid support. More than ever, raising more donations and funds is essential to meet the consequences of this natural disaster, especially for a state ravaged by an ongoing civil war like Myanmar, where healthcare and critical infrastructure are already lackluster. So far, only 5% of the total funding needed for Myanmar has been met.
To help donors navigate the various donation funds for Myanmar's earthquake relief, we have compiled a short list of relief funds from trusted international organizations that can bypass conflict zones and blockades and ensure that humanitarian aid is received.
